23rd April proved to be a remarkable day for telecom stocks, witnessing significant surges in both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, alongside the market leader, Jio, from Reliance Industries. Starting with Bharti Airtel, the telecom major saw a surge of up to 4%, hitting a fresh 52-week high. This rise was fueled by two key announcements made after Monday's market close. Bharti Airtel is strategically expanding its network in rural India, deploying additional sites in various districts like Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Banaskantha, among others, aiming to densify its network across approximately 6000 villages and towns, covering around 15 lakh population base. Additionally, the company introduced international roaming packs starting at ₹133 per day, providing access to 184 countries. Bharti Airtel's stock has delivered a remarkable return of over 75% in the last 12 months, with a 32% rally witnessed in 2024 so far. Moving on to Vodafone Idea, the stock witnessed large-scale buying, surging by around 12%. Experts attribute this surge to the strong response received by Vodafone Idea's FPO of ₹18,000 crore from global institutional investors, coupled with the company's 5G rollout plan, 2G to 4G site upgrades, and promoter fund infusion, all contributing to increased investor interest. And let's not underestimate the market leader, Jio, from Reliance Industries. With the release of Reliance Industries' earnings, Jio Platforms revealed a 13% year-on-year growth in profit and an 11% increase in revenue from January to March 2024. Moreover, Jio added 1.09 crore subscribers quarter-on-quarter and 4.25 crore subscribers year-on-year, with the average revenue per user (ARPU) rising by 1.6% year-on-year to ₹181.70. Support zone: 21,700-21,800 Resistance zone: 22,400-22,500 After a recent 4% fall, NIFTY formed a bullish piercing pattern on the daily chart on Friday. This reversal pattern awaits confirmation, with today's closing pivotal for validation. Open interest reveals significant call OI on the 22,500 strike for the 25th April expiry, acting as resistance. Meanwhile, the highest put base resides at 22,000. Given the recent spike in volatility, traders should remain vigilant and craft strategies to navigate sharp swings. Turning to BANK NIFTY, Friday also commenced with a gap down, but the index witnessed a recovery of over 2% from its intraday low. It reclaimed the crucial 47,500 level on a closing basis, accompanied by the formation of a bullish piercing candle on the daily chart. Additionally, both the 20 and 50-day moving averages were reclaimed. Support zone: 46,500-46,700 Resistance zone: 48,000-48,200 In terms of open interest, the 48,000 and 48,500 strikes for the 24th April expiry hold the highest call OI, potentially acting as resistance. Conversely, the 47,000 and 47,500 strikes accumulate the highest put base. Traders should remain attentive to market reactions amid ongoing geopolitical tensions and upcoming results, particularly those of HDFC Bank, which may have a ripple effect across the banking sector. Lastly, let's spotlight potential stock actions for today: Long build-up observed in Escorts Kubota, Jindal Steel, Indus Towers, and Trent. Short build-up identified in Tata Communications, Aurobindo Pharma, Cummins India, and Bajaj Auto.
