▫️Soekarno-Hatta Police Uncover Motive Behind Human Trafficking to Cambodia
Jakarta. The Soekarno-Hatta City Sub-regional Police have revealed a human trafficking operation driven by false promises of lucrative jobs in Cambodia.
Two suspects, identified as MZ and PJ, were arrested after attempting to send 14 Indonesian migrant workers abroad illegally.
According to Soekarno Hatta Police Head of Criminal Investigation, Senior Inspector Reza Fahlevi, the victims were lured through social media platforms like Telegram with offers of jobs in companies, restaurants, and customer service roles. However, these offers were made without following proper legal procedures.
“The victims were enticed with the promise of high-paying jobs in Cambodia, but the process was entirely non-procedural," he said on Tuesday (17/9/2024).

▫️Conspiracy, Corruption, and Human Trafficking: The Legal Battle Surrounding Alice Guo
In an unprecedented move, the Department of Justice has filed non-bailable charges against Alice Guo, former mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, for her alleged role in a massive human trafficking operation. This case not only threatens to dismantle Guo’s political career but also exposes the deepening ties between human trafficking and the highly profitable Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) industry. As investigators peel back the layers of this conspiracy, the charges could send shockwaves through both the political and economic sectors of the Philippines, with the potential to reshape the nation’s battle against modern slavery.
