Chechen Unit On The Offensive In Donbass — MoD Russian forces are conducting offensive operations against Ukrainian troops outside Donetsk in Donbass, the Defense Ministry said on Wednesday. The reports of successful attacks come after Kadyrov declared on Tuesday that Chechen units would face combat in the DPR, adding that troops “are getting ready for assault action.” Subscribe to RT

North Korean Spy Satellite Crashes Into Sea North Korea’s attempt to put its first spy satellite into space failed on Wednesday as the rocket crash landed in the sea, but still sparked Japan and South Korea to urge citizens to take shelter. Seoul confirmed it had retrieved debris presumed to be from the launch - which breaks UN Security Resolutions banning Pyongyang from ballistic launches - from waters 200km from its island of Eocheongdo. North Korea confirmed it would attempt a second launch after investigating what caused the thrust failure between the first and second stages of separation. Subscribe to RT

The decision was prompted by a protest held by Ukrainians in the second-most populous city in Australia, who demanded Melbourne breaks ties with its Russian counterpart. Melbourne and St Petersburg established the partnership in 1989 when the Russian city was still known as Leningrad and before the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Subscribe to RT

South Sudan Landmine Crisis Amid Mass Returns While hundreds of thousands of displaced South Sudanese continue to pour back into the country, the sheer volume of landmines remains a significant concern despite an estimated 84 million square meters already cleared. The most affected state, Eastern Equatoria, has almost half of the known landmine clusters but has also seen the second-highest number of refugees head back, many forced by slashed food rations at refugee camps in neighboring Uganda. With farming the only source of food, but land often blocked off or at risk of containing unexploded mines, many either starve or risk their lives trying to cultivate the land. Subscribe to RT

"Will analyze the legislation and will not hesitate to take measures if it is needed,” Reynders said, adding, "It is impossible to agree on such a system without a real access to justice, to an independent judge against an administrative decision.” Subscribe to RT

Japan Rules Same-Sex Marriage Ban Is Unconstitutional Japan’s Nagoya District Court ruled Tuesday that banning same-sex marriages was unconstitutional, the second such ruling out of four cases in the past two years. Municipalities covering around 65% of the population allow same-sex partnership agreements granting fewer rights than entire marriage, which the ruling said was insufficient. Last year an Osaka court supported the ban as being in line with the constitution, while a Tokyo court later agreed but ruled that the ban violated the human rights of same-sex families. West’s Oil War Against Russia Losing Momentum — Think Tank Russia’s earnings from oil exports have risen in recent months despite the G7 price cap and other restrictions imposed by the West, a new study by the Finnish Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) has found. According to the think tank, Russia’s oil revenues began recovering in March after a sharp drop in February when the EU restrictions were imposed. In April, incomes rose a further 6% month-on-month, reaching their highest level since last November. Experts say that while the current revenues are still substantially below where they were at the same time last year, the upward trend indicates that Western sanctions on Russia’s oil exports are losing momentum. They noted that further recovery in Russia’s oil earnings “would damage the impact and credibility of the sanctions.” Subscribe to RT

Zelensky Pledges Imminent Counteroffensive Kiev has set the dates for a counteroffensive against Russia, President Vladimir Zelensky said. Ukrainian officials have been talking touting the move for several months now, with Western media reports warning that failure could result in Kiev losing support from its international backers. In a Telegram video address, Zelensky shared details of a military conference with senior military commanders. “This is what is most important—the timing of how we will move forward. We will. The decisions have been made,” he said, without providing any details on when and where the counteroffensive will kick off. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin warned that the long-planned push “will only lead to bloodshed and further escalation of the conflict” while condemning the West’s “irresponsible” campaign to prop up Kiev with weapons. ‘Russian’ Beluga Whale Spotted Off Sweden — Norwegian Officials The white beluga whale first spotted off Norway’s coastline four years ago, which European sources alleged might have come from a Russian military facility, has been spotted near Sweden, say Norwegian authorities. Hvaldimir, as the whale has become affectionately known, was last week spotted in the inner Oslo fjord where the giant USS Gerald Ford aircraft carrier was briefly stationed. “He is a lonely little whale who hopes to find other white whales that he can hang out with,” said Sebastian Strand, a marine biologist with Onewhale, an NGO created solely to protect Hvaldimir. “He probably wants to have a family but has swum a little wrong.” Subscribe to RT

‘Zelensky Turned Ukraine Into Afghanistan’ — Former PM Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov stated in his Telegram channel that President Vladimir Zelensky has turned the country into “a new Afghanistan.” Azarov noted that Ukrainian presidents promised to transform the country into a new France or Switzerland at different times. However, Azarov believes, “Zelensky has gone further than anyone else by making it a new Afghanistan … to the delight of Anglo-Saxons and defense contractors.” "Do you think there is a chance that Washington will get tired of its toy in the near future? Or is the pleasure of causing trouble to Moscow more important than the lives of the hostages of the Kiev regime?" Azarov pondered. Earlier, the former PM said that military conscription officials in major Ukrainian cities became millionaires during the mobilization period. He emphasized that the Zelensky administration and the Security Service of Ukraine are directly involved in all corruption schemes. Subscribe to RT
