​Telegram to exclusively use TON for ad payments As part of the #TONxTelegram initiative, Telegram has announced that starting in March, Telegram broadcast channels in around 100 countries will be receiving payouts in Toncoin (TON). This development further integrates TON Blockchain into Telegram, marking another significant step towards putting crypto in every pocket. Read more here. Based on our analysis and experience with the Telegram Ads platform, we've estimated the potential impact for advertisers. With Telegram channels generating a staggering 1 trillion impressions, our average CPM is $4.30. Telegram already captures 10% of this market, so it stands to reason that from March ± $215 million could already be paid out to advertisers. We estimate channels opting into Telegram Ads could earn a share of $215 million and $2.1 billion per month, all paid in Toncoin. This initiative signifies not only a substantial revenue stream for Telegram and Telegram creators but also an entirely new utility for cryptocurrency and Toncoin. As with everything they do, Telegram wanted to do advertising differently, characterized by transparency and respecting user privacy. With payouts in Toncoin, Telegram Channel owners will learn about TON’s Web3 ecosystem and can use the payouts for promotion and upgrading their channels. Aside from Telegram Ads, an ecosystem of Web3 apps is already available to Telegram Channel creators: ▪️ @Wallet: Gives creators a way to hold, buy, sell, send and receive crypto peer-to-peer inside Telegram. With Wallet Pay, channel owners can build payment in crypto into their own Telegram Mini-apps. ▪️ @community_bot: Gives creators an in-telegram quest platform, where subscribers can do tasks and earn rewards. ▪️ @tribute: Gives creators another monetization method, with donations from subscribers or subscription-gated paid channels. We're just scratching the surface of what's possible with TON Blockchain. 😝 Next month, channel owners on Telegram can start receiving financial rewards from their work. Broadcast channels on Telegram generate 1 trillion views monthly. Currently, only 10% of these views are monetized with Telegram Ads — a promotion tool designed with privacy in mind. In March, the Telegram Ad Platform will officially open to all advertisers in nearly a hundred new countries. Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50% of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels. To ensure ad payments and withdrawals are fast and secure, we will exclusively use the TON blockchain. Similar to our approach with Telegram usernames on Fragment, we will sell ads and share revenue with channel owners in Toncoin. This will create a virtuous circle, in which content creators will be able to either cash out their Toncoins — or reinvest them in promoting and upgrading their channels 🤑

​TON Grants & Bounties Q4 2023 One of the main purposes of TON Foundation is to support general ecosystem development by funding innovative projects and hosting different developer bounties. This leads to more services being built on TON and makes the blockchain more accessible for builders. Grant Announcements Out of 243 submissions, 18 exceptional projects have been chosen to receive a total of $350K in funding. These projects span various segments of the ecosystem, including GameFi, DeFi, and infrastructure improvements. Some notable grant recipients include: TonJump: As the first Web3 user-generated content game on Telegram, TonJump allows users to craft and share their own game maps. This integration of gaming with NFTs could significantly increase user engagement and demonstrates the flexibility of TON technology on Telegram. DeDust.io: DeDust is creating a Mini App version of its DEX, narrowing the divide between TON’s DeFi services and Telegram's user base. Xircus: This platform makes it easier to create and deploy Web3 applications, addressing a major challenge in blockchain development and encouraging creators to contribute to the TON Ecosystem. Noteworthy developments include native Python bindings for TON, which lower the entry barrier for Python developers, the provision of a Ruby SDK that expands accessibility to Ruby developers, and the design of a blockchain statistics page. DAOLama introduces ‘Buy NFT now, Pay later’ DAOLama, a pool-to-peer NFT lending protocol on TON, has launched a new feature allowing users to purchase NFTs at half their market price. This development is aimed at providing instant access to trust-less loans, enabling users to acquire digital assets with less money upfront. How does it work? The platform now offers the option for individuals to buy NFTs, like an Anonymous Number, for 68.16 TON when the floor price is 173 TON. The remaining balance of 106.3 TON can be settled within two weeks, with a minimal additional cost of 1.46 TON. Additionally, the payment for the purchased NFT can be completed within 28 days, with early repayment leading to a recalculated, possibly lower amount. NFTs purchased via this option are stored in a smart contract, ensuring security and transparency. During this period, owners can sell the NFT with no commission, keeping all profits from any sale. G-BOTS mobile game launch The G-BOTS game has officially launched, marking an important milestone for the owners of G-BOTS NFTs. TON processed over 80 million inscriptions transactions in 15 days TON Community is delighted to see the work to supercharge the network led to the successful launch of Inscriptions on TON. While other networks attempt to ban such demanding levels of transactions, TON evolved to carry the load with open arms. There were issues, but they led to great learnings that will shape how TON evolves to even greater levels of scale. Since TON20 inscriptions launched - 98,945 unique users have made over 80 million transactions. Transactions per second have consistently held above 300 in over a week of minting activity, at one point reaching a peak of 649, a new record for TON Mainnet. TON’s dynamic sharding was in full swing, splitting into a peak of 16 shardchains. At the same time, transaction costs remained fixed and low at an average of ~$0.004 per transaction. In a community-led effort, crucial infrastructure was upgraded, including liteservers, APIs, and message delivery services. Special thanks to TON Diamonds, who set up additional liteservers, and GetBlock, who provided free RPC nodes for key projects. The road to putting crypto in every pocket and making TON the most scalable blockchain on the planet was never going to be easy, but stress tests will always strengthen our ecosystem. ​The dawn of cNFTs on TON The Compressed NFT (cNFT) format has recently gained popularity, enabling the creation of extensive collections ranging from hundreds of thousands to a million items — all achievable at a fraction of the minting cost. The first cNFT use cases on TON took place recently, marking the beginning of a new era. The team behind the @Getgems NFT marketplace: ▪️ Released over 75,000 cNFTs as part of the Egg Fight Club game, where egg-cNFTs serve as gaming assets in the fight for the grand prize. Network Notification The Open Network upgrades are helping the network deal with increased load. TON has continued to be fully operational. From 11 am to 2 pm UTC, TON processed 2,363,002 million transactions, reaching a peak TPS of 371. The exponential growth in network activity impacted certain services. However, most have been upgraded in the last hours and are now operating normally. Thank you for your patience as the network and its infrastructure begin to cater to the demands of mass adoption. Normal services from centralized exchanges should resume shortly.

Network Notification Due to the exponential growth in network activity, some parts of the network infrastructure may experience some disruptions. Centralized exchanges may not be able to process deposits and withdrawals until the network congestion has been dealt with.

TON Network Online: A Heartfelt Thanks to TON Community As of 7:20 AM UTC today, The Open Network (TON) has effectively resolved the recent network congestion issues, thanks to upgrades implemented by TON validators. This advancement has enabled the network to process transactions swiftly and seamlessly, ensuring the safety and security of all user assets during the slowdown. The network performed effectively during decongestion processing up to 65,000 transactions per minute at its peak. However, there have been some significant lessons learned here, and still remain some challenges to address with introducing slashing for underperforming validators, and continuing to upgrade the validator network with the best hardware and routes of communication. In part the solution is already integrated into our network's architecture, but there will be further upgrades and we are already significantly better positioned to handle similar scenarios in the future. Throughout this event, a significant milestone for the blockchain was realized - 200 million transactions have successfully been processed. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to our community for your patience and support during this time. We extend special thanks to all the validators as well as Tonano, Fragment, @Wallet, Tonkeeper, TON API, dTON, re:doubt and Orbs teams for their exceptional efforts and collaboration, which were instrumental in stabilizing the network, and communicating the status to TON Community. Transactions Delay Update Yesterday marked a pivotal moment for our decentralized community; coming together with unprecedented collaboration. We made the necessary steps back toward the high standard of operations the TON Community expects. The focus was stopping the transaction queue from growing, which has been achieved and meant: ▪Working with the Tonano team to pause mints and stop transaction growth. ▪Working with Fragment team to pause auctions and protect user’s digital assets. ▪Contacting +70% of all independent validators to begin upgrading using the patch provided. Any remaining validators can get in touch via this form. ▪Removed some of the poor-performing validators, running on rate-limited bandwidth. Today, our focus is on efficiently processing the backlog in the transaction queue. To do that we have just released a second validator upgrade here, and with faster routes of communication to +70% of validators, a resolution is near. Track TON back to full performance in real time! In true TON community fashion, the most necessary components are being built by the community! Tonkeeper has created a dashboard to track the network decongestion in near real-time. You’ll see two charts on the dashboard, pictured above. ▪Chart 1 shows the cumulative amount of delayed transactions. Until it drops to zero, the network can only process very few new transactions. ▪Chart 2 shows the rate of congestion/decongestion. Values below zero indicate increasing congestion, and values above zero indicate clearance of the transactions. Call for Network Validators to get in contact! The TON blockchain is experiencing reduced performance now due to a backlog of transactions in the queue to be validated. We’ve received a fantastic response from many validators on the network who have already upgraded using the patch provided this morning. However, there are still some we have been unable to reach. We need to collect the machine specifications from all validators to progress the upgrade as quickly as possible. TON20 Inscription Use-case on TON Starting on December 5th, The Open Network (TON) experienced an incredible spike in network activity, thanks to the BRC20 Bitcoin Ordinals type of inscription use-case, called TON20, launched by the Tonano team. Producing over 2 million transactions increased our network usage by 61 times within just half an hour. TON Community is proud to witness a creative use case take-off in TON driven by independent participants in the ecosystem. Moreover, this sudden growth has revealed many interesting insights for our blockchain. Dynamic sharding technology worked as expected. At its peak, TON split into eleven shardchains, stabilizing at five shardchains to handle the heavy load. At the same time, this phenomenon also revealed where the community should work to swiftly onboard the exponential increase in network activity expected in the near future. Network validators must ensure that TON is supported by hardware capable of scaling to the performance demanded by high usage. Network Performance Delays This peak interest also came with a severe congestion of TON network, where validation was severely delayed even though the network validators are still producing blocks. Popular wallets like @Wallet and Tonkeeper have paused the service temporarily. TON core developers are aware of the issues affecting users and are working on TON blockchain. An initial technical report is available here. TON core team will be providing us with a further update within the next 24 hours.
