Tap water linked to Liver Disease!
Recently ministers were urged to ditch plans to raise the price of alcohol after research suggested household tap water supplies could be linked to liver disease. The death rate linked to liver disease in the UK is one of the worst in Europe and scientists believe that this could be down to the quality of our tap water.
Tap water has been proven to be heavily contaminated and can contain atrazine (bad), arsenic (read more here) and various agricultural run-offs which are really really bad. Not only have these chemicals been found but consideration has to be given if your water pipes are made of lead.
One must remember that once your water leaves the water treatment plant it travels through pipes, some of which could have been underground since the Victorian times adding even more contamination. It is highly likely that if your house was built before 1970 there is a strong chance itβs probably still fed by a lead pipe at the very least from the water main in your street to your tap, so there is every chance of heavy metal contamination too.
In Northamptonshire traces of cryptosporidium were found in the water supply of 108,000 properties. Cryptosporidium is a naturally occurring bacteria causing gastroenteritis, especially in young or elderly people. Residents were advised to boil water for themselves or their pets. Much research has been done with one researcher Royte who originally wanted to prove a case that tap water was better than most bottled water found herself questioning this theory the more she investigated.
Do you know where your tap water comes from?
One would assume that it goes through several bodily systems and lots of filters (I hope) before it reaches you. Yum Yum Dim Sum! Royteβs findings strongly proved issues not only with bottled water but also with tap water which originally she had championed as the better choice.

In recent years the female hormone estrogen has also been found in tap water suggesting that we are now drinking small quantities of hormones too which can lead to infertility in men!
The Environment Agency also recently revealed that large quantities of male fish in rivers and waterways are actually changing sex β all because of the high estrogen levels being found in water.
FACT - High levels of estrogen in women can lead to fat storage around the butt and thighs too.

Fluoride affects the thyroid gland in particular as its store of iodine is depleted and depresses the thyroidβs metabolic and immune functions by shutting down production of thyroxine, which controls metabolism resulting in hypothyroidism and lowered immunity.
The resulting hypothyroidism causes weight gain, depression, cold intolerance, dry and prematurely aged skin, constipation, hair loss, memory loss, increased cholesterol levels, irritability, heart disease and loss of libido.

Chlorination
Research by Birmingham University showed that the βchlorinationβ process that tap water goes through to kill germs and dangerous bacteria could be a serious problem for pregnant women.
The research showed that chemicals formed during chlorination called trihalomethanes, or THM were found to affect pregnant women more and cause a higher incidence of birth defects including hole-in-the-heart defect, cleft palate or anencephalus.
