⚡️Hundreds of teenage boys and girl scouts have fallen ill at a global event in South Korea due to a sweltering heat wave.
⚡️The 12-day event, hosting around 40,000 participants from 155 countries, has been marred by heat-related issues. On Thursday, 1,486 people visited the on-site hospital, with 250 experiencing skin rashes, 138 suffering from heat-related illnesses, and 386 reporting bug bites.
⚡️Despite concerns, no critical conditions were reported. An outcry from parents and observers flooded social media, demanding the event's cancellation and criticizing the organizers for inadequate arrangements.
President Yoon Suk Yeol intervened, ordering air-conditioned buses and refrigerated trucks to the campsite and urging improvements in food quality. ⚡️Organizers are deploying cooling buses and providing each scout with five bottles of water daily, along with cooling masks, hats, sunscreen, ice packs, and salt pills. The ongoing heat wave has already resulted in 18 deaths from heat-related illnesses.
