Weekly BD Update - 29th July What's going on DRONES! As usual, your WEEKLY UPDATE is here... 1️⃣ PLATFORM SPECIFIC TESTING & PATCHING A few issues have come up on specific platforms, preventing players from signing in to their account (allowing their stats and progress to be recorded). This led us to test functionality on different devices and different platforms to ensure everyone can easily log on and have fun in Red Rock! 2️⃣ ANIMATION POLISHING There are a wide variety of A-EYE enemy types swarming Red Rock. They may look mostly similar due to limitations with A-EYE's manufacturing intelligence, however they can be very threatening! We spent some time polishing up the way the enemy characters move and attack - in order to make them more distinguishable. small changes like this inject more life into the game world, even if it is A-EYE... This content has been crafted with specific audiences in mind, maximizing our outreach and effectiveness around release! 2️⃣ LATE STAGE GAME BALANCING Reaching the late stages of BATTLE DRONES: Red Rock Resistance takes a respectable level of combat skill. We want skilled players to experience a significant challenge, pushing them to utilize everything Red Rock has to offer. Testing this stage of the game is difficult due to the higher chance of failure, especially when accommodating for players of a higher skill level. Here's the weekly update for you all... 1️⃣ FINAL BALANCING AND BUG FIXING We have been spending as much time as possible doing final tests on the game to ensure there are no game breaking bugs upon release. Also due to feedback on the difficulty of the game, we are also tweaking the balance to ensure the widest range of players can enjoy the experience. The final tweaks are very important when aiming for perfection! 2️⃣ OUR MISSION This week has led to conversations on how we can most effectively communicate to our community and the web3 space, how our product stands out from the rest. Weekly BD Update - 17th June What's up DG! Back again with the WEEKLY UPDATE! 1️⃣ USER INTERFACE/GRENADE FUNCTIONALITY Throwable weapons are a great way to mix up the combat and add a more tactile and physics based feeling in shooter games, so we really wanted them to be an important feature in* Red Rock Resistance*. Working this into a mobile title was a challenge given the nature of touch screen controls was a challenge we ticked off the list this week, on top of the bug fixing we've been continuing to do, it's been a great week of game development for us! 2️⃣ LAUNCH TRAILER AND GAME AD DEVELOPMENT We've been going hard creating some video content to be released alongside the game launch to tickle the interest of new audiences and give our community a little more of a taste of what to expect in the full release. Here's your update for the week... 1️⃣ ADDING AND TWEAKING SFX After feedback from game testing we decided that adding and tweaking our current sound effects would be a great way to spice up the gameplay loop and give players positive feedback when accomplishing feats of gaming prowess. Small details like the triumphant note chiming in at the exact moment all enemies have been defeated in a wave can go a long way to create a sense of satisfaction in the player and keep them coming back for more! 2️⃣ SOLANA ECOSYSTEM MEETUP Our core team of founders attended the Solana ecosystem meeting in Auckland last Friday to expand our network and get to know the local adopters of crypto in New Zealand. It was a fantastic experience where we got to talk about the game and learn about some developments in Solana that will certainly help in our mission of mainstream adoption of web3 gaming! Weekly BD Update - 27th May What's going on DRONE SQUADRON?! 🎮 FINAL BOSS WAVE BALANCING & TWEAKING We've been focusing on the boss battle that players will encounter late in the game, once they have amassed a sizeable arsenal to help them survive an intense wave. We had to ensure the design of the boss battle was equally as comprehensive on both Mobile. Due to the nature of wave-based games, making this boss a challenge whilst maintaining reasonable survivability was tricky - as we don't want any perma-death related frustration at the hands of an unfairly powerful boss! Weekly BD Update - 8th April What's goin on FELLERS! Let's start the week with a good old update... 1️⃣ INTERACTION INPUT LAG FIXED We encountered an issue in testing relating to input lag when trying to interact with certain objects, including ammo air-drops and meteoroid fragment power-ups. It's crucial for a player to be able to access these items when caught in a sticky gameplay situation, however a tiny amount of input lag was making these scenarios that much more difficult. We have since reduced the time it takes to collect resources from these interactable objects giving more power to the player in these tense moments. 2️⃣ GAMEPLAY BALANCING With community testing coming up we've been exploring ways to greatly improve the gameplay loop with minor adjustments. we've further tweaked a few key variables such a specific weapon damage, in-game economy and even the speed of certain enemies and attacks, finding the right balance of accessible, challenging and rewarding. Weekly BD Update - 1st April HAPPY EASTER high flying folk! The weekly update has just arrived... 1️⃣ TOUCH CONTROL / GAMEPLAY FUNCTIONALITY We've been fine tuning functionality surrounding certain gameplay actions and how they work on a touch screen device, mainly surrounding the aiming and throwing of grenades. These actions need to feel responsive and precise whilst also remaining as small an on-screen button as possible to avoid cluttering the user interface. 2️⃣ USER INTERFACE TUNING This week we've reworked all mobile / touchscreen UI to work universally on devices small and large from account creation to in-game menus. Weekly BD Update - 25th March Howdy drone SQUADRON! Here's the latest... 1️⃣ WALLET INTEGRATION This week we've made progress on research and development of wallet integration for BATTLE DRONES: Red Rock resistance. we are currently working on creating a pathway to connect a wallet that becomes linked to the users ID, allowing players to connect their digital wallet to their BATTLE DRONES account. With future installments this functionality will allow the player to access unique NFT related items. 2️⃣ BATTLE DRONES ACCOUNT FUNCTIONALITY We've begun work to improve account functionality within Red Rock Resistance. Ideally we want players to have be able to stay logged in for a certain period after their initial creation and sign in of their BATTLE DRONES account whilst maintaining a high standard of security. Weekly BD Update - 18th March Hey guys! Once again, the update is upon us... 1️⃣ OPTIMIZING LATENCY We noticed a few hiccups in regards to latency on the mobile version of the game, particularly when running several different apps simultaneously. We've been have to test certain apps to pinpoint the cause of this loss of latency and ensure we maintain a reasonably high and consistent frame rate from early-game to end-game. 2️⃣ STEAM VERSION TESTING Although we've had more of a focus on the mobile version, we've also begun testing and balancing for the steam (PC) version of the game. This is present different challenges, however due to the more powerful hardware at the average PC gamers disposal, the process has been progressing smoothly without the same latency issues we're fixing on mobile. Weekly BD Update - 11th March What's up TEAM! Here's a freshly squeezed UPDATE for ya... 1️⃣ LATEST FEEDBACK IMPLEMENTATION In our latest feedback round we've made some larger decisions surrounding several mechanics in order to simplify the gameplay experience, making sure that first time players do not feel overwhelmed by visual information and can see the game for what it is at it's core - blowing up big drone baddies with an even bigger gun! We've found a way to decrease the amount of buttons on screen, whilst also increasing the functionality of the original game. This surrounds the implementation of throwables, deflecting, and dashing mechanics, allowing for more precise control and a cleaner interface. 2️⃣ BUG FIXING Game development is tricky, every time we make changes to design of the game there's always potential for some new bugs to rear their pesky heads. Unfortunately the process of ensuring the game is bug free on launch is time consuming and on-going, however we make solid progress every week to ensure pain free gaming fun on release! Weekly BD Update - 4th March Another big week for the DRONE GANG! Here's your latest UPDATE... 1️⃣ MOBILE ECONOMY BALANCE We've been rigorously playtesting this week and have completely overhauled in in-game economy of Red Rock Resistance. Now players can access crucial weapons and upgrades at a pace that is challenging, rewarding and most importantly, fun! Player progression is crucial in this genre of games and we're making sure the player consistently experiences an increase in power, keeping them excited for the next big upgrade! 2️⃣ MOBILE GAMEPLAY VISUALS Visual information relating to gameplay such as the visibility of player and enemy attacks was greatly altered with the switch to a smaller screen. We tweaked a few key visuals in order for important gameplay information to be easily recognized by the player and can react appropriately in order to best position themselves for a high score! Our latest UPDATE to fill you in... 1️⃣ COMMUNITY MOBILE TESTING Now that we have a nicely running build up and running on mobile, we have invited our community to join in on the play test and have their say on the future of BATTLE DRONES: Red Rock Resistance! The play test is available for both IOS and Android, meaning almost anyone with a mobile device can now get involved! Lets start the week strong with yet another UPDATE! 1️⃣ MOBILE UI OVERHAUL Through our rigorous game testing phase that took place last week, we discovered that some buttons were slightly too cluttered within the user interface, making select important gameplay maneuvers tricky to pull off. We went back to the drawing board and figured out a way to simplify, streamline and minimalize the UI for a mobile phone, allowing players ease of use when selecting a desired action. 2️⃣ STRATEGIC PLANNING After getting our hands on the game on mobile, our confidence has grown even more about our game becoming a big hit within the mobile market. This has lead us to begin discussions about a potential shift in our strategy - one focused first and foremost on acquiring users and building community. Popping in to deliver the WEEKLY UPDATE to satisfy your thirst for KNOWLEDGE. 1️⃣ LOCAL & GLOBAL STATS IMPLEMENTATION COMPLETE We've developed and tested a system that tracks and displays a players record and lifetime stats, allowing some friendly competition between drone pilots. We also added a number of new stats that will be recorded! 2️⃣ DEVICE TESTING We tested the game on a number of different android devices after making some performance optimization related changes. Gameplay remains stable on the devices we tested, however, we will continue to optimize the game to guarantee smooth gameplay is universal across all available hardware!
